I also tried to look up some other art to see what it would come up with.  Again, the results were unexpected and intersting.

This is a pic I found of a work in progress by Joseph Albers.  You can see he was trying to figure out the color order for this print by taping pieces of colored paper together.  I thought it was interesting to see an artifact like this which documents his working method.  Anyway, here’s what I found when I plugged it in:

I found it strange that it didn’t find this photo, which seems much more similar than any that it did find.  It’s interesting how intelligence works, and how we see connections that are so clear and simple, yet to get a computer to do the same trick is so very difficult.

Then I plugged in a photo of one of my own paintings just to see what might come up:

And one last image.  I was trying to find out who this photograph was by.  It turned out to be a source photo used by Vija Celmins for one of her paintings (although Google did not help me out on this one either).

This could be an interesting avenue to explore artistically.

I did a little updating to my portfolio.  There are a few new paintings and drawings in the featured section and the selected works section, and I added a sketchbook section with some drawings.  Take a look around.  Also, be sure to stop by the store to grab some shirts, prints and notepads!

I recently did some art for a t-shirt for Thalia Surf Shop in Laguna Beach.  It should be available in two colorways and will be available in the shop and online shortly.  Thalia is a cool shop that has some amazing fun boards, fishes, quads, bonzers and the like, as well as some cool, artsy brands that you won’t find at the mega-surf marts elsewhere.  Go hang with the bro’s.

I went to the Glendale Vintage Paper Fair last weekend and found some cool photos.  If you are looking for postcards, movie stills, and small photographs from the early 20th century, this is the place to go.

Sometimes you have a good idea, but it’s not yours to keep, so you give it to a friend.  These Skullphone shirts should be available soon from the MOCA store (online and in reality).

Can’t show you this one yet, but I’m working with Barracuda on a couple shirt designs for the store.

This “garage” is pretty insane.  I think I’d be cool if that was just my house.

I used to ride bmx when I was a kid.  I had a Redline; my friends had Racing Inc’s and PK Rippers.  I had fun, but I wasn’t very good.  It was very reminiscent of the movie E.T.  Anyway, in this video clip Danny MacAskill completely destroys the streets of Edinburgh.
