On the back of the dollar bill there is a pyramid, which when you think about it is a very fitting symbol to have there. In ancient Egypt, the pharaohs were buried inside of pyramids (and later deep, underground chambers) with vast quantities of wealth…not to mention the huge amount of money, labor and resources that went into the construction and decoration of these tombs. And, for all intents and purposes, it was all locked up forever. Forever the property of the pharaoh. Forever the property of the elite. Forever the property of the powerful. Just like today.
