Saturday night was the Girl Skateboards Art Dump show “Make The Logo Wooden” at The Little Bird Gallery in Atwater village. It was a pretty small show with small mixed media works. Here are a few shots: (more…)

Weekend Wrapup: Girl Art Dump, Waterfalls & Cleon Peterson
Monday, April 27th, 2009Busy P’s Birthday
Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Since you can’t just come back from 4 days out at Coachella and go straight back to work, we decided to attend Busy P’s birthday party at Pierre Andre’s (Etnies) Malibu estate. The view was ridiculous; cliff front at Point Dume. We took the very expensive key ($1,500 fine to replace) and went down to the private beach to surf, but the lack of swell meant we mostly just floated around (there was a pod of dolphins playing right by us, so that was cool).
Coachella 2009
Monday, April 20th, 2009This weekend was pretty nice. Got to hang with a bunch of good friends and did some amazing people watching. Here are a few photos from the Coachella Music Festival, as well as the party at the Anthem Magazine Ranch. This year started out not quite as hot as years past, however, by Sunday it was in the low 100’s and was crazy hot. I only had tickets for Sunday, so I got a chance to catch a bit of Sebastien Tellier, Busy P, Lykke Li, Peter Bjorn & John, Antony & the Johnsons (who ended 15 minutes early so I missed most of it), Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Public Enemy (who played the whole Nation of Millions album…insane), My Blood Valentine (aka the loudest band in the world) and the Cure. The Anthem party was pretty much madness.
Parra Exhibit @ HVW8: 04.04.09
Wednesday, April 8th, 2009Last Friday we went and checked out Parra’s show at the HVW8 gallery. It was a cool show and a nice turnout. Parra has started to work on canvases, which is nice to see. He’s also doing screen prints of his poster work in addition to the Gicleé prints he has done in the past. I really prefer screen prints over digital prints as it just seems to lend more of a fine art feel to the work. Digital prints just feel so transitory. (more…)

Rants & Raves: AT&T
Monday, April 6th, 2009So I went overseas recently and wanted to have access to my iphone for emergencies and any business calls that might come through while I was out of the country, so I signed up for AT&T’s international roaming plan for both voice and text messaging as well as data usage. It’s a combined price of $31 which I figured would be cheaper than what I’d pay without the plan for roaming (even though I didn’t plan on using the phone much at all).
However, now that I’m back home, and called to cancel the plan, AT&T suggests that I keep the plan on for 3 months because sometimes the international carriers’ billing can take that long to get through the system, and if a bill comes in and I’ve turned the plan off, I will be billed at the non-plan international roaming rate. So, I only needed the service for 3 weeks, but I’ve got to pay for 3 months?
I explained to the agent that surely, if a bill comes through from a foreign country, and I am clearly not in that foreign country currently, that they would be able to see the date of usage and see that I did have the international plan at that time and everything would be good, right?
Wrong. “It is part of the terms and conditions on the international plan that billing may take up to 90 days to show up on your account, so we suggest that you keep the plan on your phone until you no longer see charges coming through.” You’ve got to be kidding me?! WTF?!?!?!
I think I used 5MB of the 20MB data plan that I bought, but I have to pay for 3 months of the plan, “just in case”?!?! Total scam. I shut it off and figure I’ll deal with escalating the issue if something shows up on later bills. Soooooo lame.
Oh, and While I’m talking about AT&T…I have 5,000 rollover minutes and I never use all the minutes in my plan, so I wanted to lower my plan to the next lower minute plan. Guess what? You loose all your rollover minutes when you switch plans. Gee, imagine that?
